I wish I did. This kind of thing is all too familiar to me.We've had a discussion on our forum at The Robert Mackay Clan website (I'm webmaster) on family tales. There will always be those who will adamantly believe such stories even though there isn't any proof to back it up.More likely there is proof it didn't happen rather than did.
I've simply come to the conclusion to simply let these people go on believing these stories while I and others will go out and look for the truth.
I have some knowledge on Indian peoples because I believe I have Indian ancestry through my mother's side. There aren't any claims of descent from Pocahontas but the Indian ancestry itself has been claimed.
The only descendants of Pocahontas I'm most familiar with are the Bollings who lived in Virginia because some of them intermarried with families associated with the Funsten branch of my Mackay family.
One has to be very careful about the various family tales dealing with Indians. It's like I said about the "princess" issue. These kind of things didn't really exist among Indians and sometimes family tales get screwed up during the telling. Some are even invented for reasons only the one who started it knows.
