Re: Poehls Research
It's possible that this is a connection, though some dates are off a bit.
My John Poehls was born in Germany in 1876.The immigration records I have have him coming to the US in 1883.It's very possible that his name was Johann, as I know that my grandmother mentioned that most of her relatives "Americanized" their names.
His wife's name was Frieda (or Freda or Frida?) Koester (or Koster) who was also born in Germany in 1979.Mostly likely they both came from the Schleswig-Holstein area. They were married in 1900.
My grandmother, Helen, did have a sister Emma. There were eventually 10 children in that family 4 boy and 6 girls.
Alvina, Charles, Fritz (Fred), Emma, Helen, Frank, Mamie, Louis, Lillian and Lorene (Laurene).
Let me know if any of this is fitting with anything that you have.
Thanks so much for your reply!
