Looking for POINTER ancestors from SC to Alabama
I am looking for parents, siblings, and ancestors of my great grandfather Joshua Pointer born in Aug. 1844 in Benton, Calhoun,Cleburne,or Talladega Co., Alabama. He died Sept. 10, 1906 in DeKalb Co., Ala. Joshua Pointer married Malissa Brown, daughter of James and Mary Elizabeth "Tiny" Brown, July 8, 1866 in Cleburne Co., Ala.
Joshua Pointer joined the CSA at Alexanders Crossroads in Calhoun Co. and mustered into Co. E., 30th Alabama Regiment at Camp Curry, Talladega, Ala on March 31, 1862 as a Private. He was captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 4, 1863 and was paroled July 8, 1863.
From Joshua's enlistment on March 31, 1862 and back is my brick wall.
Census reports state that both Joshua's parents were born in South Carolina.I am looking closely at the 1850 Benton Co. Ala. Census of John Pointer b.abt. 1804 in SC and Elie b: abt. 1816 in SC. Their Children were born in Ala.

One of my Pointer cousins has done the 67 marker dna test. I would like to see more male Pointers do the dna test. I did the Findley 67 marker dna test. It has been highly successful...so far I have met 15 new cousins!!
I would like to hear from any and all Pointer researchers and share information.
