Re: John and Katie Grendysa Family - Detroit MI - More
You should also know that in Polish, Grendysa is spelled Gre~dysa. The Polish character “e” has a diacritical mark underneath and is pronounced “en”.So when you are searching for early family records, look for both spellings.
There is a WW I Draft Registration Card for a John “Gradysa”.He was born on June 24, 1894 in Swilcza Austria/Poland.At the time of his registration on June 5, 1917, he was still single and living at 133 Mercier Street in Detroit.
There is a New York Arrival record for a Jan Gredysa. He arrived at Ellis Island on February 6, 1912 on board the S.S. Kronprinz Eilhelm. He listed his father Michal as his nearest living relative in Swilcza Austria/Poland.
