We have in Poland the only small lead basing on Dzwoniecki's from Warsaw from the 19th century:
# Year 1883 Jan Dzwoniecki married Marianna Heller, Warsaw parish Narodzenie NMP (Leszno)
Try to find any document giving his exact place of birth, if he was enlisted in the US Navy he had to be naturalized citizen, and his naturalization papers (the petition etc.) would give his full Polish name and the POB. After that we will try to help you to uncover his family story in Poland.
Other friends from this forum can give you the way to receive these very important papers.
