Hello.I have enjoyed reading your discussion regarding Morgan Lee Smith and Mary Etta. While I do not have any information on Mary Etta.I would love to see the pictures you have of Morgan and Mary Etta.My father's family descended from John Calton Smith, Morgan's father, through his second marriage to Emma Elizabeth Agnes Scarborough Young and their son Burton Calton Smith--my great grandfather. We do not have anything further back than Jno. C. Smith on the 1880 census in Ranger, TX.We have some old family documents in possession that state that John C. was the overseer of a road crew in Ranger in 1878.He was also a Justice of the Peace. He was born August 18, 1835, in southern Virginia, and he died on a cattle drive and is buried in Antlers, OK.His death date is July 21, 1889.The information is that he was driving cattle to Indian Territory to a homestead for his 2nd wife and children. However, I can only assume that Morgan and his other siblings were still in Texas. The story is also that John's daughter Jenny was with him on the drive when he died.I do not know for sure.I have pictures of his grave if you are interested.I cannot find anything of his wife Nancy.Do you know anything about Morgan's mother, Nancy J.? I have been trying to search information on all of the children listed on the 1880 census with Jno. C. Smith.I believe that James W. Smith the oldest son is buried in Rising Star Cemetery, although I have no proof that it is the same James W. Any information on Morgan's mother or father would be great. Also if you could send me the picture Morgan, I would be grateful. Email is bcandjdforgey@yahoo.com.Thanks so much in advance.Jamie Smith Forgey
