joy,
I am responding to your post because of my connection to Francis Coburn.

Charles T. Polk, 1780 NC-1839 TN, married Catherine Clontz, 1798 - ca 1870, about 1813 in Mecklenburg Co., NC area. They moved to Hardin co., TN about 1824. These were my g/g/g/grandparents.

UNION CO. CPQS: October 1844: - "Power of Attorney by CATHERINE POLK of the state of Tennessee, Harden County, to FRANCES COBOURN, dated Sept 2, 1844 is registered."
[This is the corresponding entry in Union Co. to match the Power of Atty gotten in Hardin Co., TN court. See the entry from Hardin Co. Ct Records.

"Catherine Polk of Hardin Co., TN appoints Francis 'Cabourn' [sic -- this is Francis Cobourn] attorney to recover from Adam Clontz, Executor of Jeremiah Clontz's estate .....which have descended to me as Heir-At-Law" signed Catherine Polk, 9-2-1844."

It appears that the above Charles T. Polk, William Polk, 1786-1843, son of Capt. Charles Polk, John Polk, Jr. and his brother, Thomas Polk, sons of John Polk, Sr. of Anson Co., all arrived in Hardin co., TN in the middle 1820's.
