First off, thanks a million for posting all that info on Charles the IT.This is all brand-new information to me and I am so thrilled to have it.
Here is my connection to James Polk and Nancy Abell:
Their son James Madison Polk (7/31/1820 to 8/17/1900), m. Minerva Cochran (12/27/1824 to 5/20/1898).They are buried at the Plum Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Spencer Co., KY.They had 9 children:James Guthrie, Francis Matilda, Nathan William, Mary Catherine, Henry Hamilton, Alvin Crist, Sarah Isabella (Sallie), Charles Pelham and Madison Cochran (Matt).
Henry Hamilton Polk (1857 to 6/20/1949) married Rosa Ely (1874 to 6/21/1957).They are buried at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, KY.They had 3 children:Maude Catherine, Alvin Crist, and Burley Demsey.
Alvin Crist Polk (1/4/1895 to 11/23/1986) married Pauline West (1894 to 11/30/1977).They are buried at Rest Haven Cemetery, Louisville, KY.They had 1 son, Alvin Crist Polk, Jr.
Alvin Crist Polk Jr. (7/7/1916 to 1/15/1985) married Nancy Evelyn Buttery (5/5/1921 to 7/3/2006).They had 2 children, Alvin Crist Polk III and Patricia Kay.
Alvin Crist Polk III (b. 11/11/1941) married Betty Sue Griffith (b. 7/13/1942).They are my parents, and I have an older brother, Charles Andrew Polk (b. 11/2/1965).
Back in the early 90's, there was a newspaper article in the Courier-Journal in Louisville about James Polk's grave. They found it in an area where a road was to be built, and had to find a living descendant to ask permission to move it.A KY genealogist tracked down my dad. That article was part of the spark that got me going on family history.I have the clipping.
