Re: DNA - Pollock & Polk
I did not see this posting before I posted my answer to your previous one.
Yes, Charles Polk, Indian Trader, death 1753, is as far back as can be proven, and he has no connection to William Polk who m. Ann(Nancy) Knox Owens, or to said William Polk's parents, Robert Polk/Magdalen (Tasker) Porter. If you have not checked out the Cartlidge family connection of Charles Polke's wife Christian Cartlidge (She is NOT Christian Matson until later, despite what you will find on the Internet and in publications), you will find abundant material on this line.Christian (Cartlidge) Polke married Ralph Matson shortly after the death of her husband Charles Polke, and she was still living as of 3 March 1779, the last record I have for her.
And by the way, the DOB used for Capt. Charles Polke, 1703, is but a guess; I know of no documentation for this date, it is used by many researchers just to have something.I and others starting using the date of c1700 for William Polk who m. Margaret Taylor, and the date of 1703 just kinda followed on Charles Polke, because we all thought they were siblings and Charles was the younger. So, don't hang your hat on the published DOBs for Charles or William.Bill
