William Pollards of Orange County, Virginia, July 13-24, 1746

I am still trying to "piece together" my Pollard line backward from Sarah Pollard married James M. Edmonds in Wilkes county, Georgia, in 1849.They are buried with markers in the Community(Silvey) Cemetery at Rayle, Wilkes County, Georgia.
I did a lot of my genealogy research before the Internet so I am definitely into proofs and documentation instead of just "grabbing" someone else's tree.However, living in East Texas, I did not make a lot of progress until some more books were published on the area of Georgia around Wilkes County.

In the name of God Amen I William Pollard in the Parish of St. Thomas and of the County of Orange being very sick and weak in body though in perfect & well mind and memory thanks be to almighty God for the same and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory life I do make Constitute and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following first I Commend my soul to God that gave it and my body to the Earth to be decently buried at the Discretion if my Ex'or hereinafter named hoping through the merrits of my Blessed Redeemer to be raised again and be made partaker of the never fading days of Immortallity and as touching my worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased god to bless me with I give Dispose of and bequeath in Manner and form following first my Will and Desire is that all my Just Debts be paid then I give and Bequeath unto my beloved friend Joseph Hawkins one Certain tract or parcell of land containing by Estimation two Hundred and fifty acres lying on the beverdam Run and Bounding one Pattent Granted to Samuel Smith to him and his heirs or assigns forever, Then I give and bequeath unto my Eldest son Joseph Pollard on tract of Land which I purchased of Anthony Ghotoson Containing one Hundred and twenty acres Then my will and Desire is that all the rest of my Estate both Real and personal be Equally divided among the rest of my Children viz - Sarah Pollard, William Pollard and one not yet born farther my will and Desire is that my beloved wife Elizabeth Pollard shall and may enjoy all my Estate both Real and personal Excepting that Tract of Land given to Joseph Hawkins) during the time of her Widowhood but if she should alter her state of life by marriage then my will and Desire is that she shall and may enjoy only one third part of that Tract of Land given to my son Joseph which third part she may enjoy during her life and if my wife should Marry then my will and Desire is that my Children should paid their parts portions or Shares when they shall arrive to age and las[t]ly I do appoint my well beloved will Eliza Pollard my Executrix of this my last will & Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this thirteenth Day of July Anno Dom one Thousand Seven Hundred and forty six.

At Court held for Orange County on Thursday the 24th day of July 1746 This last will and Testament of William Pollard was presented into Court by Elizabeth his widow and Ex'or therein named proved by the oaths of Hannah Durham Sarah Pollard and George Smith the witnesses thereto and Ordered to be recorded and on the Motion of the said Executrix

Probate is granted her on the same according to law
