Re: Pollmann - Lobith (Netherlands) 1833
I live in Belgium, my father was born & raised in Arnhem, Netherlands, and the origins of our family in The Netherlands go back to the 19th century. Before, they came from Germany. I was told the meaning is like "men from the Poll", the Poll being/having been a river in Germany...? No idea where this is, would be interested in knowing more.
I know there are a few Pollmann's in the germanophone part of Belgium too(close to German border, former German territory), but the jae no link to our family branch. There must have been several descendents from the original Pollmanns who fled from Germany into The Netherlands in the 19th century.
