Harrison Polsgrove-Hickman Co., KY
Ken Forbis has raised such strenuous objection to those who have not identified Harrison as a son of Henry, and to me in particular for having leaned to this idea in the absence of more definitive data, that I scanned my Polsgrove Website at Rootsweb where I prefer to place things that I feel more certain of than what is said on this Genforum site.
Below is what I found there and what I intend to do about it for the time being.
Henry:
The family of George was given a final delineation elsewhere on this
forum--12 children altogether probably inclusive of William Harrison.
His descendants reject Henry as his father and there is a conflict of
facts for Jacob as the choice.
Henry was not the father of William Harrison
Henry and Nancy had no other children. Descendants in Fulton Co., KY,
say he had a total of 14 children. This leaves out the Lucinda, b. 1838,
mentioned here. And Harrison's descendants also exclude him from Henry's
children.
These are the stts I made re: Henry and Harrison.
Jacob:
I have nothing here about Wm. harrison under Jacob, son of Jacob, because
I do not believe he was a son of Jacob.
These are the stts I made here re: Harrison and Jacob.
George:
[*A diary in possession of Sharon Dolan's branch of the family says that
George had a family of 12 children].
CHILDREN:
William Harrison, b. 1814 (now believed to belong to this family) m.
Sally Ryan (two other variants of this name).
*The diary of Francis Porter says George had 12 children.
The list above has 12 children. Descendants of Wm. Harrison have a
tradition that he was a son of Jacob or George. The Jacob theory was
based on Jacob’s will naming son W. H., but as the 1850FC shows son W.H.
was Wm. Henry and no Wm. Harrison was named in the will. My opinion now
is that Wm. Harrison was the eldest child of George.
These are the stts I made re: Harrison and George.
I have now amended the webpage and by this post I am amending my thoughts on this Genforum as follows:
*Note: Ken Forbis has made his debut on the internet and insists that Harrison was a son of Henry of Hickman Co. This issue has been in debate for many years by different factions of Harrison's own descendants. Since neither I nor any other non-descendant has power to decide whose ancestors of others may be, let me leave it as ambiguous until Harrison's descendants get the matter settled among them.
Now I am in agreement with myself here and on the Polsgrove webpage and have nothing further to opine about until Harrison's progeny get the matter settled.
