Re: Pomeroy , Chivers and Cheevers ca 1066
.Do you have any idea when the split in spelling of the name occured?
.While Edward Cheevers was raised to the Peerage (as a result of services rendered during the Battle of the Boyne it is my understanding that it was never gazetted and therefor void?Gazetted or not he aparentley performed sufficeint service for James II to merit it.
.The Pomeroys have had considerable DNA testing done and none of it matches my DNA.Have you had your DNA done and if so does it match the Pomeroys - or will it match mine if you do get tested?(I have been unable to interest any other Cheevers to have their DNA tested.)
.Dates around Roger Capra and his offspring are scarce. One date used by Tom Cheevers (a very avid meticulous researcher in the days before the internet and a good man)for Roger is c.960.If this is true then Roger must have had Ralph and Willima very late in a long life for them to be of an age to have been at Hastings?
.Just an aside about Tom.He joined the Canadian Navy for WWII with the solel intent of getting shipped overseas so he could get to Ireland and do some on the ground research. He was quite discusted and considered it ironic that they never sent him otside of Halifax Harbour!
