My Popejoy File Information:
Each of these posted file locations have some advantage to me.Please note that MyFamily.com has bought out Rootsweb, Ancestry.com, and Genealogy.com which owns FamilyTreeMaker.I only use this 'group' of MyFamily owned files to make contact on the internet. They all force a cutoff date now. That means whether you like it or not, anyone born after 1930 will not show up in your posted file unless you have a date of death in your file for them.If that's what you want to see, you will be happy. If you want to see more, you will have to contact the people who posted the files and see if they will furnish more data.
• I do NOT use (upload any files) to MyFamily or Ancestry.Forced date cutoff , registrations, and logons annoy me. • Gencircles shows everyone. (no forced cutoff date) http://www.gencircles.com/users/vdallen/1http://www.gencircles.com/users/vdallen/1 • Rootsweb has some nice file interfaces. http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?&db=vdallenhttp://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?&db=vdallen (PS you will also find this file when you "search" at Ancestry.com but I do NOT post my file there because their manager system is horrible.Updates take forever and removing a file takes even longer.) • FamilyTreeMaker: This is just the easiest to add pictures to and I only post very small files there.Suggest you avoid buying the FTM CDscalled World Family Tree. http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/a/l/l/Vicki-D-Allenhttp://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/a/l/l/Vicki-D-Allen
As far as we know there are only FOUR Popejoy books.Three by Charles Luther "Jack" Popejoy and one by Walter B. Popejoy. There are not any of Walter's books available but I have a copy of it.
These three books "might" still be available.I would recommend the second book if you are only going to get one, it is the most complete and has many corrections of the data in the first book. There is some extra information in book one and a few people are only listed in book one.The fourth is not an actual hardback book but instead more like a bound booklet with some updates to all of the others.
• The Popejoy Family in America: 1700-1976, by Charles L. "Jack" Popejoy, 1976. 8½x11", hard bound book, 350 pages, indexed, includes photos. • Popejoy Past and Present 1680-1980, by Charles L. "Jack" Popejoy, 1982. 8½x11", hard bound book, 480 pages, indexed. • A Popejoy Family Update 1990, by Charles L. "Jack" Popejoy • Genealogy of the Popejoys (1680-1980) by Walter B. Popejoy, 1981 (NOT AVAILABLE)
