I just wanted to add that Exeter, RI land evidence records abstracted in RI Genealogical Register, Volume 20, page 312 shows that Ezra and Zerviah Potter sold land to Thomas Northup in 1770. It does not indicate in the abstract whether they were living there or just owned the land. The land was paid for in Spanish milled dollars which makes me chuckle because that is around the time that Samuel Casey (brother to Gideon in my first post, and also my 5th great grandfather) got arrested for counterfeiting Spanish milled dollars and Portuguese medores. I have to wonder about the money they got paid, although I do not have any evidence that the Northups were involved. They could have accidentally had some passed to them, though.
