On the Arkansas Civil War Records they have.

1.Lewis Powell36yrs old in 1863. Complexion, Hair and Eyes Black and born in TN.

2.Lewis Powell 34 yrs old born in TN in 1829. Complexion Dark, Hair and Eyes Black. Enlisted in 1863.

3.Ambrose Powell born van buren, he is 23 on enlisted card in the year 1864.Color Dark, Eyes and Hair Black.

4.James E. Powell born MI 22 yrs old Color Dark, Hair and Eyes Black.

5.Hardin Powell born conway Ark. He is 18 yrs old. Color Dark, Eyes Dark, hair Light.

6. Hugh Couch who is 36. Color, Hair and Eyes Dark. He was born in TN.

7.Lewis Couch who is discharged for being over 35 yrs old.

All of the above were enlisted in 3rs Cav. Co. B at Lewisburg Ark.

8.William L. Couch who was killed by accidental discharge of his gun while pursuing the enemy in 1861. He was in Company H.

I don't think the Lewis's above are old enough to be the Lewis you are looking for.

I know from censes records that Hardin, John, and Ambrose Powell are in Ark in the 1850's along with the Couches, Stobaughs, McGinty's, Choats, Hardin's and Riley's.I do know that if Isom Powell actually went to Ark. with Ambrose and Chairty, he must have moved back pretty quick because he is very well documented in TN censuses.

I really don't know what happened to Lewis beyond the fact that he married Elizabeth Pretchell in 1820.For some reason I had thought he was in Ark. also, but after going over my resords, I can't seem to find him there.
