Hi Greg, Thanks for your reply.I too, have been looking for a Precht board from time to time and just recently did locate another one in RootsWeb.com.It appears to me (at least what I have looked at), that they are probably all related to your Wilhelm line.
Your Wilhellm is brother to my GGGrandmother Maria Precht Lange. Her daughter, Wilhelmine, who is my GGrandmother, did put in writing (German of course), events of her early years. She began with the statement "We came to Minnesota in the Fall of 1863, one year after the Sioux Indian outbreak".Her uncle Wilhelm had not yet come to MN, so I doubt very much that any Prechts died in a massacre. She would have mentioned it since she also gave my GGGrandfather, George Gieseke's early history and the Giesekes WERE there during that uprising.I will be glad to send you a copy of her story which will probably clarify a lot for you.
I too was in touch with Del Precht about 12 years ago and he was kind enough to give me the genealogy of his famiy (Edward), and I have the family of Lewis from MN census records. Both of these families went to Minnesota.HE also gave me the genealogy of Friedrich, the oldest son who stayed in Illinois.Several generations later, a number of the Minnesota Prechts, including Wilhelm, returned to Illinois.I have census records, but also, my mother who is now 88, knew them.I believe Del Precht is her 3rd cousin.
In any case, I am very interested in your information of where they came from in Hannover, and will try to find them in the LDS library in Salt Lake City sometime this Spring.
You can reach me at MLCARL@prodigy.net and I will be happy to give you more info regarding the above.
Thanks again for your good info and Please stay in touch.
