Re: Loretta Prieser marries Frederick Goldsborough
Hello there!Yes, these are who I have as well.
Edward James Preiser, b. 11 Feb 1894, was my great grandfather. He was married Fannie Beddow, b. abt 1897, and they were both born in the US.I am suspecting that the Edward Preiser, who died in AZ is the same man.I have never found a death certificate for him in NY or for Fannie.
Edward James worked for New York Telephone. On his WWI draft card, his address was listed as 5624 Fifth Ave., Brooklyn.By the 1930 census, he was in the Bronx.
Now I did find a Florence Preiser, b, 1896 in NY and died in Brooklyn in 1985 from the SSDI site. Is Fannie short for Florence? I have Fannie, not Florence on Edward L Preiser's death certificate.
So Edward L Preiser, b. 1914, was their son and that man was my father's father. He was married to my grandmother just about one year, when he died of cellulitis in his foot and septicemia. The marriage was in July of 1933, his death was in July of 1934, and my father's birth was in October of 1934.All in the Bronx, NY.I am unaware of any siblings for Edward L.Edward and Catherine's address at the time of his death was 437 E 158th Street, Bronx. He died at the Morrisania City Hospital.
I have the same siblings for Edward James you listed.I also have birth years for all, but not death dates for all or marriage info.
Back to Edward James.His parents:
Charles Preiser, b. January 1870/d. 24 Sept 1912, both in Brooklyn. His death certificate number is 17904 from Brooklyn, but I have yet to obtain that one.I have him married to Emma Donahue prior to 1894, but no specific date yet. Emma was born in Oct 1875 in Brooklyn.
You had their children listed earlier in the Preiser thread. I have the same info.
Charles Preiser's father was also a Charles Preiser and misspelt as Pricer during the 1880 Census. You have that info. I have a death date of 21 Nov 1897 in Brooklyn. His death certificate number is 18752, but that's another one I don't yet have.Need to get on the ball and order some of these documents.I do have him living at 212 Fifth Ave. Brooklyn at the time of his death.
I have him married to an Elizabeth, but no surname yet. Her year of birth was 1851.Their marriage was abt. 1890 in Brooklyn.
Now these last 2 bits of info point towards our Charles Preiser/Pricer, but I'm not positive yet. Then again, I take anything found online with a grain of salt.
I did find on Ancestry's site a Charles Preiser, b 14 Dec 1837 and from Neuhausen, Esslingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany arriving in New York in June of 1853.I believe that I'd found that on the German Ancestry site.
Footnote.com has a Charles Preisser from Wuerttemberg, Germany becoming a Naturalized Citizen on October 12, 1868.He was residing at 117 Leonard St. in Bkyn.
That's as far back as I go.
The only other thing I have are some war records on the Preisers, from the Civil War - WWII.Would you like me to email you those documents?
