Okay...I posted a big long drawn out explaination in the Prescott forum too...but you see one of my ancestors-John Earl from Kent, England.Married Sarah Eliza Prestiot....they came to Australia in 1853 a year after married and proceeded to name one of their sons George Prestiot Earl who in turn named one of his sons Prestiot Robert Earl.
Now my question is...how come if the spelling of her maiden name was correct-then how come searches on the internet come up with nothing? And surely if her whole family had it spelt like her than surely there were other Prestiot's than her?And if she mispelt it etc, than why pass on a mispelt name?Usually ppl only pass on a mispelt name because A) they dont know/realise...ie they arent that literate which was common back then...or B)It is too late to change it now because more than one person has the mispelt name etc....cause why would anyone pass on a mispelt name? Specially turning it into a middle name and a christian name?
Why did I post this here and in the Prescott forum? Well I thought that maybe someone might have heard of their name being mispelt like this or maybe has heard of the name Prestiot also?
Thanks for any help!
