Re: Elizabeth Priaulx, mother of Martha J. McIlyar
Thank you for responding to my post.I began researching the McIlyar family which led me to Elizabeth Priaulx and Guernsey County while looking for the family of Martha McIlyar who married Thomas Brown.(I descend from the Brown family.)I would be most grateful for anything further on Martha's parents. What I have to date is as follows: Elizabeth Priaulx was born about 1805 on the Isle of Guernsey; she married on March 22, 1829 in the Methodist church in Guernsey County, OH Isaiah McIlyar who was born 1805 in France(?) and died on 1844 in Guernsey County, OH.They had at least 4 children: James O. McIlyar born about 1832, Thomas McIlyar born about 1834, Martha J. McIlyar born July 2, 1835, and William Henry Harrison McIlyar whow as born April 19, 1840.
Martha J. McIlyar was born July 2, 1835 and died on February 3, 1917 in Toledo OH; she married Thomas J. Brown III on September 5, 1860 at the Cambridge Methodist Church, Guernsey County, OH; Thomas was born in PA (probably in Brownsville, Fayette County) on October 17, 1834 and died October 8, 1919 in Detroit MI.Both Martha and Thomas are buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo OH.
They had one daughter, Cora Belle, born abt 1863 who married William Angel Harper.I do not have any death dates or marriage date for them.It appears that they did not have children.
Thomas J. Brown was the son of Thomas Brown Jr. and Isabelle Laughlin and the grandson of Thomas Brown and Dorcas Goe who were my 4th greatgrandparents.
Looking forward to your next reply.
