Martha Priestly and Jeremiah Norred Marriage
Does anyone have proofs, Bible or marriage or will, that indicates Martha's name is Priestly, or that she married Jeremiah Nard/Norred? I have just begun my research on my paternal grandmother's family, Nard/Norrod/Norred and Walkers and I am working on papers to document Martha's Republic of Texas citizenship. I find many family histories that have this information, but can find nothing to prove her lineage for the DRT. There are no census records with both enumerated or deeds they both signed. Have photos of the cemetery marker. Please advise if there are records in Obion, TN that list Martha as Jeremiah's wife, since she left him around 1820, and came to Texas with her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Joseph Henry Walker. I searched for a divorce, but found no marriage or divorce. This is my line of descent: Shirley Coker Shumate/James Coker/Josephine Modgling Coker/Millie Miller Modgling/Frances Walker Miller/Rebecca Nard Walker/Martha Norrod Priestly. Martha signed land grant documents in TX with "Martha Norrod" and her mark, as well as other official documents in Texas. Her tombstone spells her name "Marthy Nayrd". Obviously, the stone cutter did not know how to spell her name, so spelled it just way it sounded to him.
