Hi Kathleen.Thank you so much for the great information!I agree with you that Betsy (Prigmore) Smith Johnson was deceased well before the 1820 census. And I believe that her daughter, Nancy Smith, was in Missouri before 1820.As you know, my gr.gr. grandparents,Benjamin and Mary (Downing) Prigmore, raised Nancy and information I’ve found shows that he and his family left Allen Co., KY for Missouri in 1818, per the deed below:
Allen County, Kentucky Deed Book B 1815-1819
Abstracts by Sharon Tabor

May 17, 1818. I, BENJAMIN PRIGMORE of Allen County and state of Kentucky being about to remove to the Missouri Territory....appoint David WALKER Jr of Allen County and state aforesaid...attorney...to obtain 2 grants from the Commonwealth of Kentucky one for 50 acres the other for 75 in Allen County when obtained to make to James TRACEY a deed for said 50 & 75 acres...Signed: Benj PRIGMORE pg 447-48
These families seemed to have moved around together. Also found in Allen Co. is the will of Sarah Downing, widow of Benjamin Downing and mother of Mary Downing Prigmore. In addition, the will of Samuel Downing, brother of Benjamin Downing, is also found in Allen Co., KY.
I will be in touch again soon. Thanks again!
Sincerely,
Rhoda
