Dear Chris Heimsoth:
You may have discovered by now that William Cowper Prime was a summer resident of the White Mountains of New Hampshire from the 1850's until 1904.There is a good account of this aspect, and some biographical information in Bryant F. Tolles, Jr's recent book "Summer Cottages in the White Mountains (ISBN 0-87451-953-5)pp. 156-158.
W. C. Prime and his fishing partner William Bridges built a cabin in 1876 on Cannon Mountain in Franconia Notch, at Lonesome Lake.I have a Kilburn stereoview of this cabin, with several men in front of it.Perhaps one of them is W.C. Prime?
W. C. Prime was also an avid numismatist, and published several articles in the 1860-1906 time period.
I live in the White Mountains, and also am a professional numismatist, thus my interest.
Do you have a photo of William Cowper Prime?I would be interested in obtaining a copy.I could send you a digital copy of the stereoview in exchange.
Best regards,
David M. Sundman
