My gggggrandfather, Thomas Province was in Greene County,TN. by 1784. John Province was with him in 1784 and both was made by the County of Greene TN. to do road work to pay their Pole Tax.By this we know both are at least 21 years old. Thomas bought land along Lick Creek in 1796 John already had land along Lick Creek in 1787 and James bought land along Lick Creek in 1791. Sarah Province was a witness in a law suit in 1804 along with Harm Province of Greeneville, Greene County,TN. Could this be John William Province son Thomas Province along with wife Sarah Province and they children? Thomas Province had my ggggrandfather, William Province around 1794. William Province had land along Snow Creek in District 7 in 1839, but left with his family soon after for Southeast Missouri. Was killed near Cape Girardeau, Mo. soon after arriving there in the 1840's.
Not knowing that the Wrights went to Greene County, TN. with my Province's I did not search for them. I will do so from now on. We are going to be making trips to Memphis, TN, library this summer and hope we will be able to find some answers there.
