Re: Province, Arkansas>Bakersfield CA area
Judy, your A. A. Province of the Piggott area is from a brother of Levi's. Both brothers migrated to Clay County about 1859, give or take a few years. But Levi settled in the Scatterville (outside of present day Rector area), and A. A.'s bunch settled outside of St. Francis and Piggott, near Chalk Bluff. They both came from Carroll County, TN.
Clay County was part of Greene County until 1873 (or 72.. not sure without checking), so if you might find records of them in Greene County, AR, too.
As a side note to those who were wondering, I am fairly sure that Levi and Aley (Mobley) Province are buried in the Mobley family cemetery at Scatterville. I can't be 100 percent sure without going to look, but next time I'm in Rector with good weather, I'll traipse across that field to the cemetery and search. May be tombstones have fallen by the wayside or disintegrated by now, or maybe weren't any. But I'll look.
I'm the descendant of Levi.. then William Andrew (Billy).. then William Daniel (Willie).. then Beulah.. and her daughter, Almarita Ray, who is my mother.
