Re: Sarah Pruce of London, ENG in 1790's.
You're correct John, the Gadsby's are centred around the city of Leicester. The name is fairly rare. There are some in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and a goodly number in the US.Most are in the UK.For my sins I have spent the last 20 years researching many Gadsby families around the world but particularly in the UK.
I research every Gadsby family in and around London including those who blow in later in the 19th century, with considerable success.Unfortunately I come unstuck around 1800 and earlier. As for others, I find insufficient information to tie various branches together. The George Gadsby/Sarah Pruce family is typical.I think George is from a well to do Lambeth family originating from Sussex for which I have done a lot of work, but how to prove it?I'm working on the principle that persistence will pay off - I only hope that I live long enough to make the connections! So much has happened in the family history world in the last 20 years that I am confident that in time I will tie up loose ends.
I found I don't have anything on this Pruce connection hence my query.I guess I will need to make an effort on this line and see what turns up.Have you done any work on Pruce in the London area?
I'll keep in contact as I make progress.
