Re: Family Coat of Arms
Hi Patrick, how's it going?
I picked up a copy of the coat of arms when I was in Ireland last year. It has a pretty interesting collection of attributes, these are:
Three grayhounds with red collars running from right to left on an orange and black chevron shield. Two of the grayhounds are black, the other white.
Above this there is a white grayhound (rampant). It has a rope and knot attached to its collar. It is also facing right to left.
There was no family motto (or at least the people in the Heraldry shop where I bought it could not find an existing one). I thus borrowed a line from Joyce and used that instead: Silence, Exile and Cunning. As you can imagine the exile piece has to do with being an immigrant to the US. As far as the other two pieces are concerned those are more lifetime aims more that attributes I suppose.
Anyway, if you have any more questions do let me know, take care.
