Re: Pry PA MD VA PA late 1700s
In "Personal Recollections and Genealogies of Pike County, Ohio Pioneers" by Genevieve Obetz, ca 1966, she said the following Pry's who lived in Pike County are presumed to be siblings, but further research on this family is badly needed:
Jacob (b. ca 1785, married Mary Bonnett)
Daniel (b. ca 1793, married Elenore Woodruff)
Rebecca (b. ca 1798, married George Masters)
Catherine (b. ca 1800, married Langham Peters)
Another woman and I researched and exchanged information for two years, but we never found parents for these Pry's, or any records that stated they were siblings. However, some of their children and grandchildren intermarried into the same families, such as Zimmerman, Violet, etc.
Mrs. Obetz (now deceased) lists Mary Anne as the daughter of Jacob Pry and Mary Bonnett, and adds:
"Mary Anne, born 1820, died December 29, 1884, married John Violet, Jr., son of John and Mary (Taylor) Violet on July 18, 1837, in Pike County, Ohio."
"One Hundred Years of Pike County Ohio Marriages 1815-1915" by Margaret Scott and Medrith Mollenkamp, gives their marriage abstract as Mary Ann Prye married John Violett, married 18 July 1836.
This marriage abstract also gives the date of Rebecca Pry's marriage to George Masters as 5 June 1825.
