Re: Arthur Pryne and wife Eliza Pickel
I recently came across an obit for Sherman, saying he was born in Winnecone, Winnebago, WI.In searching all the pages of Winneconne and found this family, that may(?) be Arthur parents, although in tracking them back to New York I never find him.Notice that the spelling of the name changes each census:
1850 Lyme, Jefferson, NYurl21 of 70Perrine
1860 Winneconne url7 of 31Preyer
1870 Winneconne url 24 of 51Pruyn
1880 Winneconneurl 15 of 41Prine
Sherman, when he was first found in 1870 in the home of his grandparents, John and Eliza, spelled it Prine. All times after that it was Pryne. From what I have seen, the Pryne family were loyalist and went to Ontario Canada. It may be that we are looking in the wrong place of NY and PA, although Mathew(1814), of Winneconnee, says up until the 1880 he was born in NY, in 1880 says Canada. He died in Decatur Co, Iowa about 1903 I think I saw.
Eliza was in Wisc, and still at home in 1850, she was 10 then.Listed only as E Pickle, 10, Female, single. There is no marriage record that I can find of her marrying. I do find a daughter, along with Sherman, Isabelle(1861 WI), in 1870, also with the grandparents, and never find her again.
Maybe this will help out some.I'm at dead end on it, but thought I'd send this in case you see something I may have missed
