From 1870 ARKANSAS -> COLUMBIA ->CALHOUN TWNSP CENSUS

FOSTERThomas J. age 65 WM Ministerb. Ga
ElizaS. age 54 WFb. Ga
ElizaE. age 25 WFb. Al
Lauraage 23 WFb. Al
Mary A.age 19 WFb. AL
Johnage 16 WMb. Ar
Virginia J.age 12 WFb. Ar

Is this your family? It look as if Thomas and Elizabeth were living in Alabama during the 1850's, so there could be some more children born earlier than the ones listed. I do not have access to the 1850 census. If this is yours, do you know for what denomination Thomas was a minister? if so, you may be able to access church records, and possibly marriage records. they can often give you more information than even the census.

I foundRobert Pugh Burke co, Ga 1820 who lists 2 females under age 10 in his household. also a Sampson Pugh who lists 3 females.
hope any of this helps. :)
