PUGLIESE in Rochester, NY - some changed name to GLEASON >NJ
I was talking to a descendant of the PUGLIESE family who settled in Rochester, NY about 1905-1908.The head of family was Donato PUGLIESE, and his wife Carmela. It was a large family. Some of the names on the census are Vito, John, Dominic, Antonio, Nellie, Victor, Donato, and Arthur. There may have been 11 brothers in all. There is another name, which is the same as Carmela's father.Something like Fynazio or ___izio or ___azio.Carmela's maiden name was DiPietro, according to the 1910 CENSUS which states that Donato's father-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law are living with him by the last name of DiPietro.
I was told that some moved to the area of Southern NJ(sort of across the river from Chester, PA), and had a farm. They changed their last name to GLEASON.I believe the person I spoke to related to the PUGLIESE family is the son of Victor PUGLIESE/GLEASON. GLEASON is the last name of the person I talked to.He is married to my husband's cousin.
I have seen that Dominic may have gone to California, from a message I had seen, or his son had.
