We have spent a lot of effort in tracing our Pugsley family history, both in Australia and in England. The earliest mention we could find was in the GREAT DOMESDAY BOOK in 1086, which was a statistical survey of England carried out by the order of William 1, King of England, with "Pugsley Manor" in the Parish of Warkleigh being recorded. We were unable to uncover a direct link between Pugsley Manor and the present day line of Pugsley's living in Australia, but registrations recorded in Devon Parishes show an unbroken Pugsley line which begins with John (Son of Richard) and Elizabeth Pugsley. John was born C1660, and died on 22 August 1738, Elizabeth died on 1 January 1741/2? Both are buried at Berry Narbor near the "home" of the Pugsley family at Barnstaple, Devon, England. Henry Pugsley was born on 21 October 1860, and arrived in Sydney Australia in 1881. Feedback welcome.
