Wow, I am so excited to find all this wonderful information you've provided!!Thank you so very much.
I was raised not knowing part of my heritage is Ukrainian, so most of the history is new to me.
So you know, there are also Puhachs in Alta and BC(some in each province who are related to me)as well as Puhachs in or from Sask this century - not sure yet if we're related or not.
A curious point between Ukrainian and Polish variations in spelling:Are all pronouced Poo'hatch'?
Do any of you want or have info re the Puhachs I know of in western Canadian?
Some of my relatives came to Canada at turn of century, born in Galicia then part of Austria-hungarian empire.Othersare believed to have arrived in 1920s.My maternal grandfather was apparently fiercely proud of being Ukrainian, but I understand Ukrainians had to pretend to be Polish to be "allowed" to join our forces in WWII.
I hope you continue posting.. this is all so interesting!
