Information from DAR, Sangamon Co, Ill marriage records 1836 - 1840, indicates marriage of Joseph and Mahala 21 Mar 1839.Spelling Pulsipher.Justice of the peace Sidney S. Duncan J.P. ... Marriage records 1841-1850 (second marriage of Mahala) spelling Mahala Rhea Pulsiver) married George May 25 Apr 1842 by Thomas Moffett, J.P. ... Thus within 3 yrs time she had married Joseph, had twin boys 12 Mar 1842, and remarried her widowed brother-in-law George May who had previously been married to her sister Elizabeth. It is beleived that Joseph Pulsifer was murdered while on a business trip to St Louis (information from a book on Sangamon Co)This information was acquired from Lela (Christie) Dew whose mother was a Pulsifer.
