Hi Patrick,
All this does get a little confusing sometimes. The William that I think could be your line was son of Drury Allen Pulliam b. 1778 and Susannah G. Williams that were married in Person County in 1798.
I don't have any record that this William ever married in N. C.His mother was the daughter of John Williams therefore you see some of the Williams family living near some of the Pulliams as they migrated. There were several marriages between the two families.Drury Allen's older brother John Wynn Pulliam's wife was a Williams according to some sources also even though I haven't seen proof that they were sisters as has also been suggested.
Bluford Pulliam's father according to my family was James, Jr.No one has any idea where the name of Bluford came from.My grandmother always thought it was Buford. The men in my family all the way down to my great grandfather and some of my older cousins still carry the middle name of Seymore which was James' wifes maiden name(Susannah Seymore). This of course would make the William we think might be your line and the Bluford born about 1800 here in Person County that I know beyond doubt was my ggg grandfather first cousins because thier fathers would have been brothers.
Drury Allen Pulliam left Person County in the early 1820's.As I said in my previous message the only Drury Allen Pulliam I could find in the 1830 census was in Pickens, S. C.I know that some members of the family that seem to have good records on Drury Allen had at least one son that settled in the nearby N. C. mountains and that Drury A. and his wife continued on to Tennesssee and possibly beyond.I have not done a lot of research on Drury A. Pulliam
I haven't searched to see if there was a William in that region around 1830 but then again he may have gone with his parents and ventured into Georgia between the census periods.
I hope this helps some more. The things that I know are the things my grandmother told me but my family did not keep a lot of written records so it is hard to prove and I know it is frustrating at times.
Good Luck
John
