Gail, I can't find anything under the name Garton. The closest I come is Garland but no Pulham/Pulliam connection.
I did find: Pulham, Bettie & Chas. Carter, Spotsylvania, Oct 19, 1786 Dickerson, Francis & Geo. Edwards, Louisa, July 22, 1784
When I look at births for Charles Carter, the registry shows his wife as Judith.Children of this marriage were all born in the 1760s.Either this is another Charles Carter or maybe Bettie was his 2nd wife.
There are other Pulham marriages but I believe these are sons of Zachariah Pulliam.
Question:I've wondered if the name David was a first name or middle name. The name David is not a common Pulliam name and wondered where it came from.As far as I know he is the first David Pulliam on record.Which makes me think David might have been a middle nameI, too, have speculated on the connection to Patterson.
Lastly, have you ever seen the name Ailsey/Alsey Pullen/Pulliam in any VA family records? This would be her married name not maiden.I have reason to believe that my ggg-gdm was named Ailsey and am trying to find her in VA records.Don't know the spouse's name but my gg-gdf was named Elisha and he was born in VA in 1781.This is my brick wall.
