Dear Fellow Purifoys, Purefoys, Peurifoys, etc.....all those down from Nicholas.Since today is Thanksgiving Day and I'm feeling bountiful I have a possible present for you.But,first,.....are you familiar with religion as it was practiced in the colonies?Besides the awful things the Puritans did in its name.....did you know that anyone found to be a Quaker living within the borders of Virginia was exiled and if he or she returned.....was imprisoned and sometimes put to death....by "mob" demand or the laws of some individual parishes of the Church of England...the Episcopal Church.

Since I am an ancient life long low church Episcopalian I'm free to tell you these things.

Now for my Thanksgiving present.Has it occured to anyone that Nicholas may have been blacklisted by his own family and their cohorts.....disinherited for his having become a Baptist? That could have been why he wasn't mentioned in the family wills.Even vital statistic records of him could have been expunged.Just a thought, but were I a little younger I might spend more time than I have looking into the possibility.Merry Christmas to one and all.GAJ
