Dear Cathy,Your Piercy must have been named for my gggrandmother Piercy Peurifoy who married William Gause of Gause Landing, Brunswick County, N. Car in 1827and who died in 1861, possibly when the main house was shelled by yankee gun boats.Piervy was the daughter of the Rev. William Peurifoy (usually Purefoy), but who changed the spelling of the name, as did all his brothers ,but one).William was a minister of the Methodist Episcopal church and moved to Georgia . He married Mary Brothers/Williams....so far, no one seems to know whether he was married to two separate women or whether Mary was a Brothers who had been married to a Williams, married a Williams after W.P.'s death , vis versa or whatever. The family was a very old, distinguished one in England. As I remember, three of Wm's brothers who were medical doctors also acted from time to time as medical missionaries. Is there anything definite with which I may be able to help you? Happy to if I possibly can.Geneva Ashby Jones
