Re: THOMAS NICHOLAS PURIFOY,SR./John Purifoy/Alabama

I am descended from Judge John Purifoy of Alabama (b 1842; d 1927) who served in the Jeff Davis artillery unit from Alabama during the Civil War.I believe that Judge John was the son of Francis Marion Purifoy (b 1818; d 1858), who was the son of John Purifoy (b 1787 & d 1839 in Alabama).Can anyone confirm anything going back further than this John Purifoy?

I think the John Purifoy who died in Alabama in 1839 was the son of Thomas Purifoy (b 1716; d 1802 North Carolina); and he was the son of Reverend Nicholas Purefoy (b 1679; d 1770 VA & NC)who was the son of Thomas Nicholas Purefoy (b 1657; d 1687 in Virginia), who in turn had a father named Thomas Purefoy, Jr. (b 1621 & d. 1675 in Virginia and that he was the son of Thomas Purefoy b 1578; d 1655 who came to Virginia from England circa 1620.I think the Thomas Purifoy who came to Virginia married Lucy Ranson and he was the 6th son of yet another Thomas Purifoy of Leicestershire, England- died 1542/married MargeriFitzherbert.Can anyone confirm any of this??Thanks!
