Nancy- I have a very large database of Purples. But I have little on any of the John Purples in the first`second and third generations. I have a John who m. an Alice Petersen in Salem county NJ and had three daughters born 1721-1724- Purthenia, Mersey/Mercy and Abyah/Abigail. Purthenia m. William Casto about 1745 and they had Elizabeth, Abel, Azariah and Lidea. Most of this came from LDS records and some records in the East Hamton/Chatham CT library. There is an account of the shipbuilding there at Haddam Neck where John Purple was in charge of scouting out and selecting the tree or timber for the boats being built. Barbara Purple LaViers
