William Lee Putman 1863-1930 CO-UT
A cousin and I have been trying to track William Lee Putman around his many temporary residences so i thought I would post what we know today.
1863: William Lee Putman born July 14, 1862 in Yellow Creek, Linn County, Missouri.
1872-1880: William's parents and their family move to Denver, Colorado
1883: William marries Alice E. Waterhouse in Denver, Colorado. This was a short-term marriage
1884: Alice E. Putman marries Sam Bigelow
188_: William marries Ms "x". Did Alice return to William or did William marry someone else?My Aunt Marge (William's granddaughter) believes that William had been married to four different women so this suggests that William married someone else.
1885: Arthur Putman born - dies Jan 6, 1890
1886: Joseph Putman born Aug 1886 - died on Jan 20, 1887
1888: William Jonathan Putman was born in Denver, Colorado
1893: Teller was born in Denver Colorado - died Aug 1900
1893-1894 The previous wife disappeared and I estimate that by August 1894 William had married Annie. The 1900 census shows that William Jonathan Putman and Teller William Putman began living with their grandmother Elizabeth Putman; I will assume Arthur also began living with Elizabeth.
1895: Henry Lee Putman was born in Ogden, Utah
1897: Frank Putman was born and died in Dragerton (became Sunnyside and now East Carbon) Utah
1898: Albert Putman was born in Colorado Springs
1900: Jan 9: I have Clarence Putman recorded as being born in Colorado Springs, Colorado
1900:June 4 [Henry] Lee Putman recorded in census as staying with the Gaul family in Denver
1900: June 27 the William Lee Putman family (listed as Putnam) was recorded as living in Florence Colorado.
1902: William Wilford (Wilfred) Putman was born in Salt Lake City, Utah
1904: George Putman Bently born, Annie dies, and the children are put in an orphanage
1905: William Lee Putman marries Lulu Shaw
1906: William and Lulu are living in Salt Lake City when Josie Putman is born and died
1907-1908: Baby Putman and Juanita Putman are born in Ogden, Utah.It is presumed that this is the time frame that Henry Lee Putman attended Dee school at 441 - 20th Street in Ogden.
1910-19xx: This is when the family appears to have settled down in Salt Lake City and appear to try to stay in one place but...
Notes left by Henry Lee Putman mention living in Grand Junction Colorado and Pueblo, Colorado several times, Cripple Creek, Colorado, as well as Winslow, Arizona and Idaho all before 1907.I wonder if Grandpa's notes may have said "Pueblo" meaning "Colorado Springs".
There is also a strong chance that two of William's sisters I have been tracking individually are the same person (Josie and Sophie born abt 1872).I have not been able to find a referene that lists both girls at the same time so her name may have been something like Josie Sophie Putman or Josephine Sophia Putman.
