John Putt & Jane Grant,- Devon England & Ontario Canada

I am helping a friend work on her family tree and am having problems in finding out what happened to John Putt (born about 1834, Devon) and Jane Grant (born about 1840, England).They were married possibly between April-June 1871 in Tiverton, Devon.

Fron this union came:
1)Walter, born March 22, 1872, Devon, died February 28, 1917 in Tilbury, Kent County, Ontario, Canada married to Rhoda F. Ann Paine on June 03, 1900, Essex County, Ontario, Canada
2) John A. born June 30, 1873, Devon England, died April 05, 1911 in Leamington, Essex County, Ontario, Canada married to Minnie E. Allyn on May 12, 1897, Essex County, Ontario, Canada
3) Emma Jane born August 15, 1874 Devon England died August 30, 1950,Seattle Washington, USA married to Edward E. Harris
4)Mary Ann, born July 12, 1876, Devon England married to William Arthur Dodd on April 13, 1898, Tilbury, Kent County, Ontario, Canada

According to the 1891 Canada Census, Jane Putt is listed as a widow living in Tilbury, Kent, Ontario. The 1901 Canadian Census notes that according to Walter and Mary they either immigrated to Canada in 1876 or 1880...not sure which date is correct.

I have had no luck in finding any additional information on what happend to John Putt.Not sure if he died in England prior to the family move or died in Ontario.Jane Putt is also a mystery and after 1891 seems to have disappeared.

Does any one have any information that might connect to this family and in particular John and Jane Putt.I really don't want to tell my friend that aliens got them!
