I would like to make a correction to the message which states that the Jacob Piatt who married Jane Young died in Washington Co PA in 1784.
The Jacob Piatt who died in Washington Co PA in 1784 was my husband's direct ancestor. This Jacob left a will on record in Washington Co PA Will Book 1, page 33.In his will he named his wife ELIZABETH and his eleven children:BENJAMIN, JAMES, THOMAS [the last two still not of age], JACOB [oldest], ROBERT, REBECA, RACHEL, MARY [not called "daughter"], DINAH, SUSANNAH, and ELIZABETH.
Executors of the will were "my too sons Jacob and Beniam."Witnesses:William Phillips, David McKeay.
It is believed the wife of this Jacob was Elizabeth DUNHAM.The widow Elizabeth Piatt is listed in tax records of Washington Co after 1784.
I have researched Jacob's land in Washington Co PA and believe it is now occupied by the Trax Farms, a commercial organization, but that the boundaries are pretty much still as they were in Jacob's day.
It is likely that this Jacob who died in Washington Co PA in 1784 is related to the Pyeatts who went to North Carolina and then west. However, I feel that those Pyeatts turned south from central PA and never saw the southwestern corner of PA.
