A lot information is purely circumstantial, although it may be possible to provide a firmer link for the male descendants using modern technology.A DNA study is presently underway for the Twibell/Twible/Twibell/ Twidell/Quibell/etc. surnames to look at familial links.The plan is to look at Y chromosome DNA that is effectively passed down from father to son etc. The project will be to look at distant members of thefamilies to see if they can find a DNA link via the Y chromosome.
If we all originate from some original male ancestor, we all ought to match.The problem is that a mutation may occur every few generations, and of course there could have been some undocumented bed hopping.In time this study may confirm the suspected linkage between the male descendants.
