May not be all that unusual. Many newly arrived African indentured servants to the Americas married poor white servant women during the early colonial era.The offspring of these unions, although appearing to be bi-racial,sold themselves off to the public at large as "Indians" in order to escape the stigma of being branded "Negro".Plenty of people in the world disatisfied with what they are and wishing they could be something they're not. Might be some truth in it.
