Re: Genevieve Racette m. Thomas Stonehouse/Stonas
My bet is that she is the Genevieve Racet who was born 3 Mar 1771 to Jean Racet and Marguerite Jourdain and baptized the next day at Notre Dame de Quebec in Quebec City. Jean signed his name (jean rasset)on the birth entry. Jean Rasset and his third wife Marguerite Jourdain dite Bellerose were married 9 Jul 1764 at Notre Dame de Quebec.
A burial entry exists on 30 Aug 1810 for Genevieve Rasset, spouse of John Stonehouse, tailleur in the Notre Dame de Quebec registers. It says she died two days previous in this village at 29 years old (difference of ten years). She was buried in the cemetery of "picotes" (poor?). Laurent Amiot, Louis Amiot and Augustin Jourdain were present at the burial.
I have not been able to find a marriage for Genevieve and John Stonehouse which may list her parents but it may not have been a Catholic marriage.
The Amiots were allied with the Rasset/Racet/Racette/Rassette family that spread from Saint Augustin de Desmaures in Portneuf County just south of Quebec City on the Saint Laurent River.
That Genevieve is the only Genevieve Rasset/Racette that I have identifed in that time frame.
