I have an old(?) pre-internet book (1980 or so) on my family tree. From family memories there was a story of my ggg grandmother was disowned by her wealthy southern family with the surname of Rackaby. However, as I have been researching I have not been able to find any Rackabys. When I received this book, the professional researcher that had finished this book after the death of the cousin that had gathered most of the material wrote that she had not found that name anywhere either. She wrote "I think ther must have been only one of him and he had one female child."
This is the hand written info from the tree so I am believing that I am now on the right track.Susan Miller, my gg grandmother, was the daughter of William Miller & "Louisa Rackaby" who was the daughter of John Rackaby & Elizabeth Craddock, the daughter of Moses Craddock. There are no dates in this tree.
I have a 1900 Census from Litterberry, Morgan County, IL.It has my gg grandparents with both the mother and mother-in-law living with them. The mother-in-law name is stated as Eliza Miller born on May 1810 in Virginia and both her mother and father were born in Virginia.Susan, her daughter, was born in Missouri on Sept,1837.
Old family letters say that she married many times and I have much more in old family letters. I really hope that someone might be able to shed some light on this very puzzling wall that I have come up against!Thank you.
