A heartfelt hello to Janice, Susan, Elizabeth and any other distant Radatz cousins who may read this!
My paternal great grandmother was Isabelle Alice Osterman, otherwise known to all as "Gramma O".Her brother was "Uncle Bill" Osterman. Her children with Grandpa Osterman (Arthur) as you know, were Arthur, Alice, and my grandmother, Virginia. (Uncle Art and Grandma Radatz were my godparents).
Virginia Mary was born April 14, 19??, Norman born March 17, 1907? Do not know the exact year they married, although their son, my father Richard, was born April 2, 1937.Virginia died of breast cancer January 31, 1972.Norman died May 10, 1989 of pneumonia related to his emphysema.
My father is Richard Raymond, my mother is Sharon Lee (Cooper). They were married September 6, 1958.My brother Dick, Jr., was born June 1, 1959.I was born December 8, 1960, and my sister Kristine Karen (now Walworth) was born May 21, 1962.My brother Dick married Kathy (Van Deusen) on September 13, 1986.They have no kids.Kris married Robert James Walworth on February 16, 1991 and has two children, my niece Taylor Kristine born February 18, 1992 and my nephew Robert John, born May 11, 1994.I have not married and have no children. My parents divorced in 1977 and my father remarried in December, 1987 to Charlene (Booton).
I live in Framingham, Massachusetts and have lived in Massachusetts since 1985.My father also lives in the Boston Metro area and has since 1984. He is the pitching coach for a semi-pro team north of Boston. My mom, Sharon, lives in Farmington, MI where we grew up, working in the tax assessors office for the town.Kris and family live in Milford, MI.My brother Dick owns a summer baseball league based in Rochester, MN, but he and Kathy's main base is in Jacksonville, FL, where she is a VP for CitiGroup.
It is nice to know that you are researching the family tree.I have so many memories of the Osterman/Radatz/Fuelling/Schultz family gatherings, etc.I have many, many photographs that were left by my Grandpa and Grandma Radatz, including wedding portraits.I wish I had more of Gramma O.Of course, there are many of you and your parents when we all gathered one summer at Lake Chemung in Brighton, MI where they had a home.To some degree, I am the "keeper" (2nd only to Aunt Alice) of many of our family pics.
I think the last time I saw Bernie and Rose and their kids was at Aunt Alice/Uncle Bernie's wedding anniversary party back in 1992.I saw Art and Barbara a couple Christmases ago at AA/UB's house on Xmas Eve.I have seen Pat/Patty and their kids occasionally when I visit Michigan.
You know who really knows family history well besides Aunt Alice is my mother, Sharon Radatz. She has my Dad's side of the family down better than my he does, I think!I'd be happy to put her in touch if you would like.
Much luck in your research and it's wonderful to be in touch.
Leigh
