I noted your posting because of the name "Drury"; however, I found this record which mentions an earlier Nimrod SMITH:

I'm still trying to identify (parents, wife, siblings, etc. of) a William SMITH born abt 1681/1745, fl 1761 Granville Co NC deed fr GILREATH betwn Hawtree & Six Pound Creek on ROBERTSON.
