Mary Ralston vs. Town of Chariton ~ Lucas County, Iowa
The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, October 25, 1906
COURT NOTES:
The October term of the Lucas District Court convenes next Monday with Hon.
M.A. Roberts, presiding judge. There are on the calendar 120 causes,
divided as follows: 27 probate, 12 criminal and 81 law and equity causes.
Matrimony is not as much of a failure in the county as at times in the past,
there being only six couples who have found it to be a galling hoke:
H.M. WILSON vs. ALICE WILSON.
GAY MARKER vs. WM. C. MARKER.
C.F. MCDOWELL vs. ESTELLA FAY MCDOWELL.
WM. O. CALHOUN vs. FRANCES CALHOUN.
IOWA A. REITZEL vs. HENRY REITZEL.
H.D. CLARK vs. CARRIE J. CLARK.
The criminal cases are merely continued from last term and none of them are
of new importance. The CAMPBELL-CHAPMAN slander case is ever present and
the HOLLMAN-RICKY case appears on the calendar. It is likely the damage suit
of WELLS vs. HANLIN will come up this term, at least it appears on the
record. The case of the town of Russell also figures, MARY RALSTON vs. the
town of Chariton, wherein the plaintiff claims to have been injured by an
electric light wire.
One of the most interesting civil cases will be the suit of J.D. KNOTTS vs.
WILLIAM SKIDMORE on the old note of more than thirty years' standing, and
which the defendant claims to have paid.
